A Story to Share.

Everyone has their own story. Mine is fairly mundane, but might help someone. From traveling around Europe, to dealing with severe allergies, and growing up in a family of brilliant artists and scientists. I've made countless mistakes, switched careers, moved across the world (three times), wasted time, energy, and still trying to figure life out as I go.

1. Study

This is just fun things I've studied and get no where else to pontificate on. Nerd for life.

3. Reflect

One of those annoying things we have to keep doing. Sometimes joyous, sometimes tearful.

2. Make

Sewing? Yes. Painting? Sure. Renovations? 100%. Blacksmith? Third generation.

4. Explore

Lucky enough to travel, and live overseas. Sometimes I have ideas on where to go.

Yes, this is a little silly, but I have incredibly fond memories of spending saturday mornings at @joann_stores with my Mom. As kids, we would pick out fabric for a specific project, and mom would teach all three of us how to sew. When I got older, it became our girl's day and far more complicated projects. Still as an adult although we don't get to do this often it is always a fun time to come up with new ideas, work through complicated patterns, or do a last minute run because someone (me) didn't count how many snaps her top needed.

Of course, Mom and I will still have fun sewing together, but ordering fabric online is not nearly as enjoyable. It is disappointing to see a place that I used to spend so much time in go away.

Yes, this is snow in Florida. A very unexpected weather event that I can honestly say I never thought I would see. It is surreal looking up from the kitchen window and seeing snow on the ground. Insanely cool!
Also, I immediately put my wool sweater and hat back on after filming this. It got down to -8C and was bitter with the winds.

Cheers to 2024, another year done. Not the year I expected, let alone planned. With friends moving, sickness, and unexpected losses. And yet there is so much to be joyous about; much laughter, growth, friendships, new marriages to celebrate, babies born, the most amazing family, staring my masters, seeing old friends, exploring new places, and so so much more to smile and be thankful for. This past September, I finally got to see a museum I've been wanting to visit for years now in my hometown. Sculpture is usually not my favorite art form, but Carl Eldh work is stunning. It was an incredible feeling being in his art studio seeing so much of his work.

Another month done and in the books. Finished my first semester of my masters degree, saw friends move away, tried new games and restaurants, picked countless berries, made time for the beach, baked some many cakes, and plenty of time at work and in textbooks.

My first attempt at making gluten free pasta, erm without a pasta machine. It was a fun experience but it got a smidge to dry and broke in a few places. It at least tasted great with my homemade pesto and wild mushrooms! Also my mom informed me that her stand mixer has a pasta attachment I can use 🤪😅 well next time!

Croissants are one of the breads I have really missed the past few years. So why not try and bake them?

I’ve made a few batches of gluten & soy free croissants over the past few months, have gotten a bit better each time. They still aren’t perfect but they are flaky, golden, and fluffy-ish.

Dad mentioned a few years back that he visited a Bavarian in spired town in north Georgia a few years back, an that it was with a stop. It absolutely is! In many ways it is a silly little town, worth visiting only if you already happen to be in the vicinity (fantastic hiking in the area). Very glad we stopped and wandered around, also had some amazing coffee @honeyonthehilll

Always enjoy the opportunity to explore any new location, and Columbia South Carolina approved to be quite a lovely gem. It has plenty of history, small boutiques, countless restaurants, and is easily one of the most walkable cities, I visited in the US. Overall of fun long weekend visit!
